From the Executive Director We have just completed a successful renewal season and appreciate those who renewed early and online! The Board met in October. Some of the highlights of the meeting include: approval of a Position Statement regarding delegation of medication administration by a nurse holding Announcement of Advanced Practice and/or a Certified Nurse Midwife to a qualified medical assistant; approval of language to establish a program for nurses with substance use disorders; reviewed Annual Reports of schools of nursing noting approval status until the next review; planned establishing a committee to further review the APRN Consensus Model; and, discussed the need for increasing licensing fees. Another current topic of interest on the State and National levels is that of appropriate Social Media Use. With all of the programs available for us to share and connect it is so important to keep in mind to not share confidential and sensitive information about anything. . . especially patients and events in the workplace. The American Nurses Association and the National Council of State Boards of Nursing have mutually endorsed each organizations guidelines for upholding professional boundaries in social networking.
